Review : Lipice Lipbalms & Glosses

Thursday, 27 January 2011

Hi Ladies,

The lovely people at Multibrands asked if I wanted to review some Lip Ice lip balms, like most girls I am always on the hunt for new products to make my lips moisturised and kissable so I said yes.

I was sent 3 lip balms and 2 moisturising glosses. First up, I chose to check out the lip balms.

Lipice Suncare. £1.69

This particular lip balm is a great one to have, especially in the summer as it contains SPF 25UV. I think a lot of us forget about protecting our lips against UV in the summer! To be honest, even though the name is 'Lipice Suncare' this balm doesnt need to be restricted to just this time of year, you should protect your skin and lips from UV rays all year around. My first impressions were good, the lip balm itself has a slight citrus scent to it. Rather lemony which personally I love. It's very moisturising and leaves a glossy sheen to the lips which I love as it means you dont have to worry about lipgloss on top.

LIPICE-LIPBALM-BLOG-REVIEW

Lipice Original. £1.29

Now you can never go wrong with an 'original' lipbalm. This one in particular does have the typical 'original' scent but I can also smell a slight hint of Coca Butter in there. Which is yummy! Sometimes I get a bit put off by "plain" lip balms as I feel they can taste a bit soapy! This one though doesnt taste bad at all! It's a perfect balm to wear under lipstick or gloss if you wanted, although like the Suncare balm you do get pretty sheen to your lips after using it so it could be worn on its own.

LIPICE-LIPBALM-BLOG-REVIEW

Lipice Strawberry Touch. £1.29

This balm is slightly different to the other two balms as it actually gives you a slight pink tinge to your lips. This is great if you want to do a natural look with your makeup and dont want to go OTT on the lips. As the name suggests it has a strawberry scent to it, thankfully it isnt overpowering, unlike other balms I have tried. Again this definately moisturises my lips really well just like the other two, they really feel softer after a few uses.

Next we have the two moisturising glosses...

Lipice Pink Sheen Gloss £1.69

Just like Strawberry touch, Pink sheen gloss, give your lips... well a pink sheen! There is a slight hint of shimmer too but its really wearable for day or night. You can easily wear this gloss on its own, or on top of a pink/peach lipstick, I think they woudl really compliment one and other. I am always wary of tube glosses as I find they can be quite sticky and thick, this one however has a really nice consistancy and last for a decent amount of time.

LIPICE-LIPBALM-BLOG-REVIEW

Lipice Q10 Anti Wrinkle £1.99

Personally I feel that this gloss is perfect as an over night treatment for your lips, that is what I have been using it as. Its quite a thick consistancy but sinks in relatively quickly. I know at the young age of 22 I dont want to think about wrinkles but if you take better care of yourself now, in the future your body will thank you for it! You can feel that its working wonders for your lips, when i get up in the morning they feel sooo soft!!

A quick round-up

All balms have SPF15 apart from the Suncare one which has SPF25.
If you are a vegetarian you can still use them as they have been vegetarian approved.
They will be avaliable to buy from Tesco stores.
They are affordable, as you can see from the prices of each shown above.

If you want to read up on these products then check out the website here

Hope you enjoyed!

Hiya Lovlies.

Up for Review today we have the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Pink Apricot. I recieved this in my gift set for crimbo. Yes I am slowly making my way through the products and reviewing them! There are more to come!

Soap-AND-Glory-Sexy-Mother-Pucker-Lip-gloss.
Soap-AND-Glory-Sexy-Mother-Pucker-Lip-gloss.

These lipglosses from S&G are known for plumping formula in the gloss.  So for those ladies looking for lips with a bit more pout then these are for you. This shade of gloss I think is exclusive to the Tote bag giftset however there other shades avaliable to buy online for £8.43 from boots or S&G

Pink Apricot is a lovely pinky nude colour that looks great on its own or worn on top of a lipstick for a bit of shine. It's in the 'sticky' lip gloss range but its no way anywhere near unbearable. It's a good sort of sticky.. so you know when its wearing off and need to reapply!

Soap-AND-Glory-Sexy-Mother-Pucker-Lip-gloss.

You dont get the tingling sensation straight away, what you do notice though is the taste. Its a lot like chocolate orange, which i love! About 1 min after applying you start to feel the tingling. I can't really describe it, but it does feel a bit odd!

I'm not sure if this really plumps my lips up at all as personally I cant see a difference! Maybe it works better for some people rather than others.
I am a bit undecided on this gloss as I am not sure if I would purchase another one of these or not. I'm just not a fan of 'plumping' lipglosses. I think though for those of you that are a fan of those which plump your lips up this is a great product. It looks good and tastes yummy! :-)

Up for review today we have the Soap & Glory 'The Breakfast Scrub'. I received this for Christmas in my Soap & Glory Gift Tote bag. You can see a post of everything that came in the set here.

SOAP-AND-GLORY-BREAKFAST-SCRUB-REVIEW

Now I am being totally honest here. I had not heard of this scrub before. I knew about the Flake Away scrub but had not heard of this scrub at all. Where have I been? Under a rock?! I dont know! Anyway..
Just like the other products this has the iconic pink retro packaging, unlike Flake Away, you can see the product as its contained in a see through container, I really like this as it means you dont have route around in the shop  for a tester to see what it looks like. The tub holds 300mls of product £9.25. I feel that this is a reasonable price. This scrub will last you some time, as you dont use it everytime you shower. Its a scrub you use once a week to exfoliate away the dead skin on your body.

The thing that most people comment on this scrub is the scent. It is to die for. The phrase 'good enough to eat' springs to mind. I cant put my finger on what is smells just like but a very similar scent is that of the Barry M Lipgloss in Toffee. There is another....food that is smells of but i really cant put my finger on it! If anyone can enlighten me in the comments please do!

SOAP-AND-GLORY-BREAKFAST-SCRUB-REVIEW

The scrub contains Oats, Shea Butter, sugar, Cupuacu bio scrubs, bananas, almond and honey extracts. The consistancy of the scrub is rather sticky when you first take it out (think making a pizza dough! ha) but once you rub it between your palms ready to distribute it feels much easier to work with. Ensure that your body is damp/wet when you apply this as this helps the exfoliating process. Then all you need to do is evenly spread it out over your body in circular motions.Instantly you feel the effects of this scrub. Its taking away all the dead skin and revealing fresh new glowing skin underneath! It leaves my skin feeling very soft afterwards, Its worked much better than any other scrub I've used (I am yet to try S&G Flake Away) I am really pleased with how this has worked.
You can pick up this scrub from Boots or if you wanted the Soap & Glory Website. I know I will definately be repurchasing this scrub once I have run out of my current pot. Its worth the money, smells delicious and works really well on my skin. Big thumbs up! :-)

Have any of you guys tried this scrub before. What were your thoughts, do you like it as much as I do?

New addition to my handbag...

Tuesday, 11 January 2011

Hi Girlies.

I hope you are all well. It seems that there has recently been a lot of hype for Filofax's! I know there's been a lot of talk on twitter with many bloggers tweeting that they have a filofax, or want to get a filofax, it currently seems to be the 'in' thing to have. Move over moleskine diarys or the novelty diarys you get from paperchase. If you want to be Stylish you need a filofax (Apparently)

Back in the summer I discovered Sofia's blog and she had a post on her current obsession.. her filofax.  Ever since I read that post I knew that instead of venturing to paperchase to get my diary for 2011, I wanted a filofax.
There's something about a filofax that makes you feel more mature, stylish.. organised. Well thats my opinion anyway!  I originally planned to go and get the pink breast cancer awareness one as I had it set in my mind that I wanted a pink one and the money goes to an awesome cause! Then I was flicking through one of my Mums Avon Catalogues and found they were selling a filofax giftset in their christmas stock. Straight away I turned to my Mum and told her she could get it for me for christmas! ha.... and she listened! Christmas morning I got to open up my lovely new filofax. :-)

And here it is in all it's glory...

HEART-PRINT-FILOFAX
HEART-PRINT-FILOFAX

Isn't it just gorgeous! :-)

It's a pocket sized one so its pretty much the perfect size for me! I love love love the hearts which are embossed all over it. It's very different to anything Ive seen on the Filofax website. I know you can get fabric covered ones which have pretty patterns but I think the Leather ones look fab.

I now need to fill it. It has the 2011 diary pages in there but thats it. I'm undecided what to get to go in there. I mean, what do I need! If anyone has any suggestions on 'must have' additions to a filofax (maybe something a blogger would need) let me know in the comments!

If you are interested in getting this filofax, it's avaliable in the next brochure in the sale. It will be £15 down from £30 but i dont think they will have it on the website so you will have to scout out your local Avon rep and grab a brochure from them! :-)

Has anyone else received a filofax for crimbo or are thinking of getting one after all the hype that has been going around?

Hi my lovelies,

A while ago I did a review on Umberto Giannini's Backcomb in a bottle and in that review I explain my technique of using it. Looking at the traffic coming to my blog. A common reoccurance in the search keywords are for Backcomb in a bottle. I figured as I was using it today I would take a few snaps and show you my step by step process!

First we start off with flat hair... wow I look happy.

How_to_use_backcomb_in_a_bottle_umberto_giannini
How_to_use_backcomb_in_a_bottle_umberto_giannini

Then I take sections of my hair on both sides, pull them up vertically and spray underneath. (I dont know why the 2nd picture is blurry!)

Then once you have done this to both sides, as the can says 'jujj' my hair up into shape.

And here is the final result. A volumised, slightly messy (i like it looking like that somedays!) hairstyle.

Hope this was in some way helpful to any of you not quite sure how to use this product. I like backcomb in a bottle, but i know its quite divided in the beauty community! What are your thoughts, have you tried, do you love it or hate it?

Much Love.

I hope everyone is doing well! Ive got another review going on here! This time is for the Dove Therapy Colour Radiance shampoo and conditioner. Now I dont know any girl that isnt on a mission to make their hair in the best condition possible. I know I am always trying to improve my hair after years of colouring and heat damage!

A few weeks ago my sister gave me a sample size of the Dove Damage Therapy Intense repair conditioner. I used it and I thought it was great. So great that when I was due to buy some more hair care I popped into boots and headed straight for the Dove area in the haircare aisle!
I decided to pick up the Dove Damage Therapy Colour Radiance shampoo and conditioner. I was going to pick up the Intense Repair set but they were out of stock. I had recently re coloured my hair so I thought buying the colour radiance ones would be just as good and would help my freshly dyed locks!

Dove-Damage-Therapy-Colour-Radiance-Shampoo-Conditioner

At the time (I'm not sure if this is still happening) the Dove shampoos and conditioners were buy one get one free. Therefore I managed to pick up a shampoo and conditioner for a mere £2.71! What a bargin! You get 250ml of shampoo product and 200ml of conditioner. Not bad at all!

This  Damage therapy colour radiance shampoo is one of the ones where a little goes a long way. You really do not need to use that much when your washing your hair. I only take a 1p sized amount and it lathers up really well! I repeat this twice. You also dont need a lot of conditioner just a 50p sized blob will be enough (obviously depending on your hair length!) and I evenly distribute it through my ends of the hair. (Avoid the roots as this will make your hair greasy) Once dried my hair feels so soft, I am not kidding when I say it feels the softest its ever felt in a long time. I am really impressed! As to the effects on my coloured hair. I would say that it has definately reduced the fading time. My hair usually fades quite quickly but this time around it seems to be a slower process.. Im putting it down to using these products. :-)

I shall end this review by saying I will 100% re purchase the Dove Damage therapy colour radiance shampoo and conditioner combo. I honestly think its worked wonders on my hair (well made it softer and more managable!) And if the offer of Buy one Get one free is a regular occurance..even better!

Much Love.

Front Cover To Go

Friday, 7 January 2011

Good Evening Ladies.

I hope you are all well. This is a just a quick-ish post on the Front Cover To Go makeup set which you can get in Boots. This was originally £35 but now in the sale you can pick it up for £17.50.

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS
FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

The set includes 12 baked eyeshadows (These are the domed ones) and 12 regular eyeshadows. There is also a double ended brush, and also a shadow eyeliner (what you use to turn any eyeshadow into an eyeliner). The main new addition to this set is the interchangeable compact which enables you to pick and choose your shadows and take them on the go, rather than haul the whole set around with you. This is perfect for travelling or if you are going away at the weekend!

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

I am yet to create a look using these eyeshadows but I have taken the liberty to swatch them all for you to see!

So lets start from the top....

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

So From L-R we have...

Tarn Green, Bright Aqua, Azimuth, Moondust & See the stars.

The most pigmented from this row were Bright Aqua, Moondust and See the stars. The other two colours required a bit more work to get them to show up on my arm.  These are lovely 'oceany' colours, that would be fantastic for a mermaid themed look!

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

2nd Row..

Silver Dollar, Powder  Puff, Frosted Almond, Pale Gold & Copper Coin.

All 5 of these are fairly pigmented, they would be great for a shimmery natural looking smokey eye! Love them!

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

3rd Row

Plovers Egg & Nine Iron, Bayou & Midnight, Peachesn Cream & Holly Berry, Limade & Choc Ice, Magic Banana & Goose Down.

These shadows are the normal shadows, and I really struggled to get these to show up. It took a fair few applications to get them to look how they are on my arm in this picture.  I dont rate this row at all! I may give it a few goes but from my first impressions I think I will struggle to use these shadows.

4th Row.

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

Final Row

Twinkling Grape, Black Spark, Twinkling Gold, Citronella Crush & Ginger Spice.

Again, I am not a fan of the non baked shadows, the first 3 however are baked and are lovely!

As an added bonus on the inside cover there are a couple of looks you can try to recreate using the shadows, with relatively clear step by step instructions. I may give these ago, however I think it will be more insteresting to try and combine the colours myself and see what looks I can come up with.

FRONT-COVER-TO-GO-COSMETICS

So thats my quick overview of the Front Cover To Go gift set. I think I will have a play around with the shadows and possibly use them in some FOTD posts, so keep your eyes peeled for those! Has anyone else got this set, or tried one of the other ones perhaps? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! :)

Getting back into my reviews I thought I would start with this Face Soap I bought a while back. I've used it enough times now to give a decent review!

SoaP-AND-Glory-Face-Soap-AND-Clarity.

I picked this up from my local boots and it retails at £6.00 which, considering how long it has lasted me I feel is a good price for a face wash. I am a fan of the Soap & Glory range and I had high expectations for this product. You get 150ml of product, and as you do not need to use much with each wash it lasts a long time!

Soap & Glory say that this is a foaming face wash for super clean, fresh & bright skin. In my opinion this does exactly what it says on the tin. You dont need to take too much product to get a good lather, jut a small pea sized amount does fine. As soon as you start applying this to your face you get a burst of the lovely refreshing scent it has. It's not too overpowering. (I have found with some face washs their scents are too strong and make me feel ill!) The formula is sort of like a gel and has tiny pink micro beads in it which gently exfoliate your face while you cleanse!

SoaP-AND-Glory-Face-Soap-AND-Clarity.

This face soap really does leave your skin feeling very clean and refreshed, I personally feel that using this regularly has brightened up my skin a lot. There are occassions where I get the odd break out here and there but since using this, it hasnt happened to me! (I know this may not have the same effect for you but it definately sways my vote!)

Overall I would say this is a great facewash at a reasonable price by a great brand. If you havent tried it then I think you should, You may be like me and not go back to your old face wash!

Much Love.

Building up my Nails Inc Collection!

Wednesday, 5 January 2011

Hi all, and a big hello to my new followers! :-)

I hope everyone is well!

Today I have a little post on some nail polishes for you! Enjoy!

The only Nails Inc polishes which I owned were the freebie ones that you got from Coca Cola or Glamour magazine! Spending £11 on a nail polish, to me was a lot of money. However after giving the freebies a try I came to the conclusion that the price tag was worth it. I am now a big fan of the polishes!

Just before christmas I was talking to my mum about this nail polishes and telling her how great they were and that I wanted to get some more to build up a collection. Well She listened to me and got me a set of 10 polishes from Nails Inc!

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

She got these from TKMAXX and I think the entire set was £29.99 therefore you make HUGE saving buying this rather than inividual nail varnishes! I like how the set has a varied colour range.
Prepare for lots of pictures and swatches of the polishes!

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Pembroke Close - Quite sheer, needs a few coats for decent coverage. Is more of a lilac shade in reality.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Monmouth Street - Very bright pink, Quite sheer.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Draycott Place - Very bright vibrant Orange/Coral. Looks good after one coat.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

The Vale.  -Lovely deep purple colour. Again only took one coat for good colour payoff.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Walton Street - Pinky Purple shade. Good colour payoff with 2 coats.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Barnsbury Road - Very similar to 'London' but dries matte!

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Apple Tree Yard - Khaki green colour, 2 coats for a good coverage.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Victoria Street - This takes a few coats to get a decent colour payoff. A lovely silver colour.
NAILS-INC-COLLECTION
Maple Street - Lovely brown colour with shimmer and green undertones. One coat and you get great colour payoff.

NAILS-INC-COLLECTION

Welbeck street  - Lovely shimmer bronze colour, again one coat and you get good colour payoff
Once my nails grow again I will start using these more on my fingers and you will get a better look at what they look like!  Have any of you girls got any Nails Inc polishes you love? Did you get any gift sets for christmas?

Much Love
