In the past month I have been on a bit of a make-up splurge.. and I'm feeling a bit guilty.. but it does mean I have some nice new makeup to have a play about with! And I certainly wont be buying anymore makeup in the near future! I have had my splurge, now its back to being good!

I've bought some items that I have wanted for a long time, others have been impulse buys, and then there were those bits that had such big discounts that it would have been rude not to buy them!

Nars Pleasures of Paris Palette
Illamasqua Cream Pigment 'Androgen'
Ilamasqua Skin Blusher 'Ambition'
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation 'Shade 11'
YSL Rouge Volupte #1 Nude Beige
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow 'Recess'

So yeah... I think it's safe to say that I dont need to buy anymore make up for a while, I do feel a bit ill looking at the amount I have collected in such a short space of time.. Anyone else do this and then feel really guilty? I do have a follow up post from the items I have recently got from Blogsale's too... so this isnt just it.. theres more to come... I think  I have a problem! lol

New Handbag : The 'Pippa' by Modalu.

Thursday, 29 September 2011

As I mentioned previous posts, I was lucky enough to win a Modalu 'Pippa' Handbag via a twitter competition held by Little Black Dress. Their website is self explanitory really, its all about LBD's! If you wish to follow them on twitter click here.

I was so chuffed that I had won and really didnt expect to if I am honest, I mean come on.. A competition where you simply have to tweet to say you would like a SOLD OUT, HAS ITS OWN WAITING LIST handbag..there was bound to be a lot of entries! So when I logged on to twitter when I got in from work I couldnt believe what I was seeing when I had the tweet saying I had won. I admit I was pretty happy!

Anyways enough blabbing... heres the bag!

You can purchase the Modalu Pippa handbag from The Modalu website directly. Alternatively you could try House of Fraser, John Lewis or

If the Modalu Pippa Handbag is a little out of your budget. Then Debenhams have a good dupe which you can find here.

September Glossybox : MyThoughts.

Friday, 16 September 2011

I dont normally blog about the Glossybox, even though I have been subscribed from the very beginning. My dashboard is usually full of posts about them so I always feel theres enough information on that particular months box, that I dont really need to add my two cents. However after noticing there is a lot of variation in regards to whats included in the boxes this month, I thought I would share what I got in my box and my my thoughts on each item & this months box overall.

I had seen a few posts about the boxes before mine actually arrived, and I had already seen a certain box which I really wanted to recieve as I knew I would definately use all the products. The box I did recieve .. is not the box that I hoped for.. and the more I thought about it, it dawned on me that without the 'main product' the box wasn't the best compared to the others that people got.

HD Brows, Eye & Brow palette in 'Foxy'
This was a product that was in everyones box, however I have noticed there is a variation in what shades people got. I got the 'Foxy' palette, At first glance I dont know if I will use it for my brows, but as it doubles up as an eyeshadow palette I know I will use it for that purpose. It has a good mix of colours to create a neutral daytime look, or a smokey night time look. These retail for about £20 I think, so with this alone I got my moneys worth this month.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry oil
I am not the biggest fan of any oil products if I am honest, and at first when I saw this in the box I thought it may have been a larger perfume sample! It is a multi-puropse dry oil, so you can use it on your body or hair.. I will try this out on my hair as I recently ran out of my Vo5 miracle concentrate so maybe this will do a similar job. We shall see.

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
My thoughts when I opened this.." Another Cleanser?!" I honestly still have the cleanser from the first box and then the one from the August box.. I DONT NEED ANOTHER ONE!  I am using my usual Body Shop Vitamin E cleanser at the moment hence why I havent used the others. I wasnt really happy getting this, especially after I got one in the last box.

Plum by Mary Greenwell Perfume sample.
Well... we all know how I feel about perfume samples in these kind of boxes... The scent isnt too bad, but its really not to my tastes, so I wont be using this. I'll pass it on to someone else no doubt.

Rahua Shampoo & Conditioner Sachets x2
I'm all for trying new shampoos and conditioners as I want lovely looking hair of course, but what am I going to gain using these two sachets which I will get 1 or 2 washes from? Admittedly they would be handy if I was going away on a break and didnt want to lug bottles around but still,if you want to give out shampoo and conditioner, it should be of a reasonable size so you can see the full benefits of it, over a few washes, not just 1 or 2.

My main reason for being unhappy with this box is because I have seen what were in others boxes and I feel the contents of this box arent up to the same standard.
I have seen blog posts where people have recieved Full sized hair products from Neal & Wolf as well as the HD Brow palette.  And other's, where they got full sized Mythic hair oil as well as the palette. This means that  we have all paid the same amount of just over £12, yet I only get one full sized product and someone else gets two. It isnt fair really is it.

It annoys me that Glossybox think this is a good box?! I was really excited when the bloggers that got their boxes early were claiming it was the best box so far... yes it was.. for them as they got the better of all the varitations of the September box.  For me however, it has to be down there with one of the worst.  Surely when they were putting together the boxes they would see that my box compared to ones like Emma's or Lily's was pretty dire, and those that recieved it would be pretty miffed they didnt get a better selection of products? Seriously.. look at the photos and imagine the boxes side by side.. you wouldnt pick the box with only 1 full sized product would you, when there are better options avaliable.

I wouldnt be as dissapointed if we all got something from the same brand but just different products - like in the past where you either got a illamasqua lipgloss /pigment or powder metal. But that hasnt happened here, I have items in my box that some of the other boxes dont have in at all and vice versa. I really wanted to try out the Neal & Wolf products and I think thats the thing I am most gutted about, especially as some people got full sized products from them and I got some sachets from a different brand...

Anyway, I'll leave it there, before I rant anymore! I understand Glossybox is all about trying new things and full sized products arent promised in every box, but I just (clearly) wasnt happy with the box I got this month. Did anyone else get this box? What are your thoughts? Maybe youre one of the lucky one that (in my eyes) got a good box, would you have been happy with this box? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

1 year complete & many more to come..

Thursday, 15 September 2011

(Firstly I am sorry theres no funky picture to go with this post, I am a very busy girl this evening as I am going out to celebrate mine and Tom's 5 year anniversary!)

So as of today, I have been blogging for 1 whole year! Time has gone by so quickly! As the title of this post suggests I hope there are many more years to come! I really enjoy blogging and is now quite a big part of my life! (I think I sometimes drive Tom mad with the amount of times I talk about it per day!)

I've 'met' some lovely girls over the past year and hopefully within the next coming year I will get to meet a few of them face to face at meet ups or events etc. It's these girls that keep me going with my blog, I love receiving comments on my posts and chatting to you all via twitter. This little community is great, it's nice to share our  views on makeup or clothing and not be judged as we all feel the same way!

Over the past year I have covered a variety of things on my blog, from outfits of the day's, product reviews, wishlists, posts sharing whats going on with my life and I aim to carry on posting the same sort of posts for the next year and onwards. But if there are any posts in particular you would like to see me start to do, or do more of, do let me know in the comments so I can action it!

So again thank you all for being there and supporting my blog by following, sharing and commenting on it!

Review: ELF Blush / Bronzer Duo.

Tuesday, 13 September 2011

So first things first, this product is very similar to the Blush & Bronze duo that you can buy from NARS, however the ELF version is a lot more purse friendly, which personally is the reason why I bought it. I really like compacts which include two or more products as it then means they take up less room in my makeup bag and are easier to use for touch-ups throughout the day, as you dont have to rummage for lots of different products in your bag!

It retails for £3.50 from ELF's studio line, fortunately for me, I got mine when they had their first 50% off sale, follow them on twitter or become a fan of their facebook page - Then you can be in the know when these sales are happening. They also dish out discount/free delivery codes every so often too so you can make decent savings if you want to bulk order a few items!  I was really shocked by the size of this compact when I first opened it, I actually thought it would have been a lot smaller, so even paying full price for it would be well worth it as you get a lot of product!

Both the blush & Bronzer are very pigmented, so you do have to apply these with a light hand. The blush is a nice coral/peach shade which does have shimmer too it, but because of this it kind of doubles up as a blush and highlighter in one. It looks very pretty on your cheeks. The bronzer is VERY pigmented, this is definatley one to add a little bit and then just keep adding till you get your desired look. Like a lot of other people have said in their reviews, if you just whack a lot of this on at once you look like you've slathered your face with mud. Not a good look! So just build up the colour gradually rather than diving straight in! It is a great shade for contouring, which is what I use it for... It has currently replaced my Bourjois bronzing powder as my go to bronzer!  It does have some shimmer to it, but like I said, use a light hand and it will look fine!

Do you have this duo, what do you think of it? Leave a comment!

Much Love.
A couple of weeks ago I was sent The Glamouriser by Diva Progressional Styling to review. It couldnt have come at a better time as my Scotland trip was approaching and I wanted to take as little luggage with me as possible.

How does the Glamouriser tie in with my Scotland trip I hear you cry! Well For those of you that arent aware, this hair styling combines all the hair tools you would need for different styles, it not only curls your hair, it also straightens, flicks, waves, vloumises.. the list is endless! Not wanting to take too much and being one of those people who likes to wear my hair curled one day and then straight the next I knew I would welcome the Glamouriser into my daily hair routine each morning!

Just like other heated tools on the market it comes with a protective glove, the difference being that you can use this on either your left or right hand, I have found in the past that the gloves provided have only been for one hand so straight away this is a bonus! The glove (once you get the hand of using it) is a necessity in my opinion when curling, because it gets very hot! The maximum temperature is 230'C! There is even a special setting as low as 110'C for us girls that dont want to cause too much damage! (sorry theres no picture of the glove, i seem to have misplaced it during the rearranging of our bedroom!)The great thing with the glamouriser is that it remembers what temperature you had it on when you last used it, so it saves time each morning, not having to adjust it to suit your hair.

(Wavy hair for the wedding - looking impressed that Tom's taking photos!)

It is really to change the Glamouriser in order to achieve different looks. Keep the plates locked together to create soft curls, just like a conical wand. Use the wider part for wider curls and the thinner end of the plates for smaller tighter curls. Or wrap your hair down the entire wand in order to create a cascading curl effect. I did find that the plates are a bit shorter in length than my babyliss conical wand, which took some getting used to! (Also suffered a burnt finger tip as I forgot to use the heat protector glove when I first tried! Naughty!)

(Straightened hair for relaxed times around Scotland)

To straighten your hair you simply unlock the two plates and use as you would with a regular straightener. I found they straighten your hair really quickly I only had to go over one piece of hair twice to get it completely straight, which was great! It feels so lightweight too compared to my usual straighteners, so I could straighten my hair a lot quicker!

The Glamouriser retails at £79.99 which may seem a bit pricey at first, but when you think about all the different things it can do, Its well worth the money, rather than shelling out to purchase mutliple styling tools! You can pick one up from Sally's Beauty Supplies.

If you want to find out more about Diva Professional Styling tools, You can find them on twitter here, or hop over to their facebook page. I am loving the look of the Diva heat wave triple barrel styler!

Much love

August Loves....

Thursday, 1 September 2011

It's that time of the month again! Seriously, how quick is this year going and where was our summer! Although I have to admit, I am looking forward to the winter! I dont know why! Here are the items I have been loving this month!

Vo5 Treat Me Right Deep conditioner.
I've been using this conditioner once a week to give my hair a bit of a treat after the week of curling, drying and straightening. I love the smell of this - Smell just like the Vo5 Miracle Concentrate - My hair always feels really soft and in much better condition after using it. I have two tubs as I thought they were BOGOF...turns out they werent, but I dont mind, its a great product so it's great to have a back up tub when this one runs out.

Mac Paintpot - Vintage Selection
I bought this in a blogsale at the end of July and I think ive used it most days in August! Its a lovely shimmery/glittery shade that's perfect all over the lid with a flick of eyeliner and a bit of mascara. Perfect for the days when I wake up late and dont have the time to do a more adventourous eye makeup look for work!

Urban Decay Naked Palette.
I got this for my birthday in July from my Gran and I am so glad I did! On the mornings and weekends when I do have the time to make more of an effort with my makeup I use this! I love discovering new combinations! Sometimes I'll just do one wash of colour all over the lid, other times I'll combine 3! If anyone knows of any good combinations please leave a comment!

ELF Blush & Bronze Duo
I have been using this everyday since it arrived after placing my order with ELF when they had their 50% off sale. If you are looking for a new bronzer to contour this is what you need! I love that its a duo because it means I have less to carry around in my handbag! I will do a full review on this product soon.

Seche Vite Top Coat.
I know there are a quite a few people who dont like using this topcoat as it's claimed to have some chemicals in it that could be bad for you, but It's such a good topcoat I cant stop using it! It dries really quickly and leaves the nail polish looking so shiny! I love it!

What have you been loving?
