Chillaxing and Relaxing.

Let me introduce you to my completely chilled evening. Clean bed sheets, Diary sorting, Magazine readng and nail painting. I've needed to do this for a while. In the run up to Christmas, like everyone else I am always busy, stressed and counting down the days till the 25th & 26th, the two days when it is perfectly acceptable to do absoluteley nothing apart from eat, drink and watch tv. Aesthetic magazine popped through my letterbox yesterday - Thank you  Michelle - So I got stuck in this evening and had a good read from cover to cover. Seriously if you havent heard of this magazine, then where have you been? Under a rock? Filled to the brim with gorgeous photos and great articles from fellow blogging girlies. What's not to love?
Recently I have become a nightmare with double booking myself, which has really annoyed me a tad! I have a filofax but hardly use it, and never think of tapping in appointments into my phone. When Charli was down we found these cute 2013 leather diaries in TKMAXX. We decided to buy eachother them as small Christmas gifts and I now vow to use t to keep my life on track. I've spent my evening jotting in birthdays, special dates like my wedding and honeymoon, plus any plans I have already made for the beinging of 2013. 2013 will be the year I am organised!
Dont you just love my bedding. Everyone is going crazy for Christmas themed bedding at the moment but I prefer a bit of luxury. This particular set is from the Kylie Minogue at home range at Palmers. I love the sequin details, who doesnt love a bit of sparkle at the time of the year - or any time of the year to be honest. It's so soft and smooth - yes I know that sounds weird but one side of the set is a satin where the other is cotton, givng you that expensive luxe look without feeling like you're sleeping in pimp sheets! haha The only downside with this range is that you have to buy the pillow cases seperately, You know its a bit of  posh set if you have to do that dont you! Did you know that the rectangular shaped pillowcases are called 'Housewife pillowcases' - Fact of the day.

Do you ever feel like you need an evening just to chill and do basically nothing? Im not off to paint my nails and snuggle up beneath my sequined sheets!

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover - £8.00
As you all know (Because I clearly don't go on about it enough) I have been on the hunt for a good eye makeup remover ever since Botanics decided to mess about with theirs. I tried the Simple kind to eyes remover but it just didnt cut it, so I decided to shop around a bit. I remembered years ago I used the waterproof version of this Body Shop Camomile makeup remover and I thought it was  AMAZING. So I hopped along to The Body Shop and picked up a bottle.

Reatailing for £8.00 for 250ml,  I dont think it is that bad. I know this is going to last me ages., which is a plus!  The things I look for in a good eye make up remover are that it removes all traces of makeup, doesnt smudge it all around my face and it doesnt sting my eyes. Well this particular one ticks all the boxes.

I simply take a cotton pad and soak it in solution then hold it over my eye for a few seconds. I prefer to do it this way, because I feel it gives the solution time to dissolve the makeup on my eyes. I wear liquid eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara pretty much every single day, so there's a lot of product it needs to come off. I find that doing this for a few seconds then sweeping the cotton pad across my eye removes the majority of my eye make up in the first go. I do have to be careful not to soak the cotton pad too much though, or else it does go in my eye. It doesnt sting, but it just feels uncomfortable and leaves my eyes a little red afterwards! If Ive gone for an everyday neutral eye then this should get all the eye makeup off, however if Ive gone for a bit of a darker look. I sometimes have to repeat the process again.

So if you are on the hunt for a new eye makeup remover, then I would highly suggest that you give this one a try. I dont think you can get it in a travel size bottle so you will have to just go all out and buy the 250ml! (Unless you have a friend who will kindly decant some of theirs for you to try!) But in my opinion it is worth the purchase and I think I've found my new favourite eye makeup remover!

If you fancy making a purchase at The Body shop, use the code 14322 (Valid till 19th Dec) to recieve 40% off all orders over a fiver. RESULT.

Whether it be Sequins, studs or embellishments I'm sure you are all searching for the perfect party dress at the moment. I know I am. It's always a bit of a struggle for me because I am so fussy! I always worry that I will turn up in the same outfit as someone else at a social event! (Although I don't need to worry too much when it comes to my work Christmas do... there only 2 other females that work with me the rest are all male!)

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted a full on, OTT sparkly sequin dress. (I still dont own one, I need to rectify this!) Some may think its tacky, I think that paired with the right accessories they can look classy! I love the different colours of sequins used on this one, the added bonus is that it has the beautiful cowl back detail which makes a change from a regular shift dress!  Id pair it with some killer heels, blazer and oversized clutch!

When it is a social event, sometimes I like to go all out. Have a pamper and slap on some fake tan, though I will be honest, there are times when I'm lazy and can only be bothered to fake tan! *slaps wrist* That is why dresses like the sheer sleeve studded one are perfect for those situations, when we are feeling a little bit lazy! Its quicker and easier to just tan our legs! It gives you more time to P-A-R-T-Y! ha! I do like the sheer sleeves as its the perfect party dress for someone who isnt a fan of the top of their arms, in my case the tops of my arms are a really weird shape and I suffer a bit with keratosis pilaris, so if I am having a day when Im not the biggest fan of my arms, this would be the type of dress I would go for!

Maybe you will be attending your other halves Christmas work do and you want to make a good impression and not show up looking like a discoball. That is why I have picked the embellished number. I actually think it could work really well as a dress to wear to a wedding reception too - as long as the colour isn't the same as the bridesmaids! A very classic, flattering shape, I love the little details from the tie around the waist to the different sized beads on the top half.

Whatever style dress you choose for your Christmas party, just make sure you have a good night and aren't nursing to big a hangover the following morning! :-)

Project Samples #4

Wednesday, 12 December 2012

Another installment into this little series! It was actually Gillian that reminded me that I was due a update post on how my sample testing was going, as she has started the little challenge herself. She has made a video reviewing her first lot of samples so if you would like to hear her thoughts check out her video here. If anyone else is getting involved with 'Project Samples' do let me know or link me to your video/posts in the comments. I would love to see how you are getting on!

I actually used this up ages ago and I've had it floating around my 'used up' box waiting for it to be put into this post. I have done a review on this particular miscellar water here if you havent seen already. But to sum it all up, I was impressed with this product, being the first Micellar water I have tried I cant compare it to the others on the market, but I did like using it on my skin..

I was always loyal to Boots Botanics, then they decided to go and re brand/change the formula.. WHY? The product now doesn't work so well removing my eye makeup so I have decided to try something else! I picked up this miniature to give it a go and see if it was any good. It doesn't irritate my eyes and does remove my makeup easily. So no problems there, however what I didn't like, it that it smears it all around my eyes. This bugs me, and is something I didn't get with my previous love from Botanics. It is affordable and easily available from Boots or Superdrug so this is a possible re purchase.

I got this in a little Elizabeth Arden set I picked up in TKmaxx, I am really not a fan of  the scent, however as a moisturiser it worked really well. I just used it before applying my makeup, Its a slightly thick consistency but sank in relatively quickly into my skin. I didnt see a massive improvement in my skin compared to other moisturising products I have used  so I dont think I would be purchasing it full sized. It is also quite pricey, so  unless I am completely wow'ed by a product I am not willing to part with a lot of cash for it!

I really love this moisturiser and I am annoyed that I didn't start using it up sooner! It is also a big deal if I finish a hand cream because this NEVER happens! The scent is lovely, I cant describe scents, but I like it! ha! Its quite a thick hand cream but sinks in relatively quickly, and the scent lingers for a while which I love! I'm recently looking into using more sulphate or paraben free products and this hand cream doesn't contain either so that's a big bonus. It's £9.00 so is something I would consider re purchasing... if I didn't have a huge collection hand creams to get through!

I think for the next installment of this series I am going to make a start on the multiple sachets I have lying around. I do get a little put off with sachets because they are 'one use' products and sometimes you cant get a good idea on how they work for you. However I will try my best to try them out as the little bag is getting full of them and it needs to be emptied!

I want to get back into the swing with documenting my empties. I am not sure if I ill make it a monthly thing, but just like my project samples series, as and when I have a decent amount of products to show you I will whack a post sharing my thoughts. These are a couple of things I have recently finished.

I don't know anyone who hasn't used this hair treatment. Before I had my hair cut and all those awful split ends taken away I was using this deep treatment to try and restore my locks a bit. It has the generic Aussie scent which I do really like, it made my hair really soft after use, however I am trying to get a bit more savvy with my haircare and try and use paraben/Sulphate free products so I am on the hunt for a new deep conditioner that fits the bill. If you know of any do let me know.

I got these in a package from KMI Brands when I won their blog of the month award. Great timing really, I am going down the more natural hair care route now, so they fit right in. I wasn't a massive fan of the shampoo scent (I really dislike cinnamon) but that aside, as a duo they worked really well on my hair in regards to colour protection. It did take some time getting used to the lack of lathering up the shampoo produced, but still without that, my hair felt really clean and conditioned after using the two together. I will definitely be picking some more of these up. I'm really intreged as to how the volumising mousse from the range holds up. That will be next on my list to try.

In the past I have raved about this particular product and I have announced multiple times that I will always repurchase.... Not anymore. Unfortunately the brand had a be of a revamp and in the process seem to have changed the formula for the product. I dont feel that it works as well at removing my eye makeup as it did before. I'll be honest there were a few times where I was tempted to just chuck this bottle in the bin. But I stuck with it so I didnt waste any product. I wont be buying this again so I am now on the hunt for a new eye makeup remover! I have just bought a bottle of The Body Shop Camomile remover so we shall see how that goes!

Victorias Secret Sexy Little things Nior Bath & Shower Cream. (no link but you may be able to get it in their new store in London?)
I got this bath/shower cream at the beginning of the year when I made a quick stop in Dubai. It came in a set with the body lotion and body spritz and out of the 3 this is the only one I have finished so far! I'm terrible for buying sets and never finishing the products in them. I love love love the scent of this, so I am a bit sad that I wont be able to repurchase when I  finish everything up. I used it as a shower gel, it lathered well with one of those shower poofy things. (there's probably a proper name) and the scent lasted on my skin, especially on the days when I remembered to use the body lotion after showering too! :-)

I am quite sad to have finished this perfume as I do love it a lot, and I feel it is quite a 'wintery' scent. Luckily I do have another bottle on standby to use which is one of those refillable ones too. (Although I have no idea what to do to refill - Am i being silly?)  I know this particular fragrance is a bit of a favourite amoung bloggers. It has a very distinctive scent, I was at a blogger meet up once and Faye from The Bohemian Collective just burst out with 'Someones wearing Alien perfume!' haha

Face Lace 'Fleurty' £13.29

How I wish I could just tell you that I am a dab hand with a liquid liner pen to create this look.... but that would be a lie. This eleborate design on my face is actually Face lace by Phyllis Cohen. I had seen this product featured on the Daily Mail and demonstrated by the lovely sam of Pixiwoo in one of her videos. So when I got the email notifying me of the Masquerade theme for one of the nights on the hen weekend, I knew I had to incorprate face lace into my look. After browsing the site I settled with the style 'Fleurty' I loved the design, it isnt a mask but still gives the same sort of effect. Phyllis Cohen has actually designed a few face lace styles which are masks that go directly across your eyes, however I felt this may irritate me a little so opted for this style instead.

Delivery for these were really quick, which I was really pleased about as I only ordered them 4 days before I was due to go away on the hen weekend! They come in a cute sturdy box. To be honest this does seem a bit of a waste of packaging seeing as the designs come on a sheet of paper. However I guess it is a bit of a luxe product so I can understand why it turns up like this rather than in a little plastic wallet! Inside the box there are some clear instructions on how to apply the face lace correctly. To be honest its the easiest 'make up' I have ever applied, the only stuggle I had was making sure they were evenly placed! They are quite easy to peel off again if you dont fully press down on it when you are positioning the design on your face. You just have to be patient!

So how did they last? Well I will be honest with you, I struggled a little with the top designs peeling off slightly around the edges. Now bare in mind I was in a large house with the heating turned right up, plus a naked man had entered the room to pour my Rekorderlig and raspberry sours.. I was going to get a bit  hot & flustered! They were also placed over my eyebrow bone, being a contoured area I wasnt working with a flat surface, which may have caused the edges to peel away slightly. I wasnt too bothered as I think people were more interested in the Butlers bottom to be honest! I do think that those were the reasons behind it peeling away though, the designs which were placed on my cheeks didnt budge! They were on a flatter surface and well, I will be honest, I didnt get sweaty cheeks like my brow bone/forehead! I admit, for the price you pay for a one use design you wouldnt expect it to peel off. But like I said maybe if I hadnt got so warm they would have lasted better.

I would really recommend these if you have a fancy party to go to or some kind of fancy dress do. They are a one use product which you may not be keen on, but the reaction from my peers and overall look of the face lace I think it's totally worth it. You may be feeling a bit like 'Oh no its fine, I'll try something similar with my liquid liner'.. Just dont (unless you are some kind of amazing artist and have a brilliant eyeliner) The benefits of using face lace are that it is quick and easy to apply. Doesnt budge (aside from the slight peeling on the edges nothing moves at all) it doesnt smudge! No one wants to spend ages on a design and then look in a mirror halfway through the evening to find a big black smudge down their face! You also have the plus that you know that both sides will be completely symetrical as long as you line them up as evenly as you can! What's not to love?!

What do you think of Face Lace? Is it something you would buy to be a bit quirky and different at a party?

Rediscovering Beauty faves

Saturday, 1 December 2012

We are all guilty of it, just look at the makeup collection posts and videos we all create. We cant help buying more makeup than necessary! Another neutrals palette... pink lipstick...cheek highlighter. They are my downfall. I see something new and sparkly and 'need' it, even though I probably have something that does just the job stashed away among my collection. With that being said I have recently made more of an effort to dig around my products and rediscover some gems that had been forgotten in the back of a draw/in a box rather than rushing off to Boots to pick up the newest 'must have product' Lets pretend I didn't get the Kate moss 107 lipstick okay. These are just a couple of products which have slowly made their way back into my current makeup routine each morning.

The Body Shop shimmer cubes (Palette 06) are the cutest, most perfect mini neutral eye shadows a girl could need. I got these ages ago for an Easter present from my Gran and they are still going strong. Admittedly the lightest shade (which for months was my go to 'sweep of colour' over the lid) has a considerably large dip in it. The others though, look as though they have hardly been touched. Each shadow has 4g worth of product which last you ages and for £16 isnt bad at all. You've got two lighter shades which are perfect for a day time look, then you can layer up the darker shadows for a more smokey night time eye. Very versatile! I think with it not being in a typical palette style packaging it is easy to forget about when shoved to the back of a draw. But this now sits proudly at the front of all my makeup ready to be used on a daily basis again!

With it's gorgeous packaging you are probably wondering how I could forget this beautiful Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte lipstick in Nude Beige, but it is easily done. I am a bit of a lipstick hoarder (Who remembers my buy less but wear more post?) With the amount I have its easy to forget about gems like this one. When I first bought this lipstick last year it was the only shade I wore for weeks... then another new lippy came along and this one went back in the draw.  This is much pinker than the name suggests however looks lovely with a simple winged eyeliner and contoured cheeks. I have been loving it for the days when I want simple face makeup but that little bit extra on the lips.

You know I like my cheek highlighters. (My goal is to hit pan at some point on at least one of the fair few I have collected over the years!) The Nars Multiple in Copacabana was a purchase I desperately wanted because back in the day when I was addicted to Lorraine's (The Current Custom) videos and she always used this multiple! Just like the YSL lipstick, it was used a lot when I first had my hands on it, and then it got made redundant when something new and shiny came along. The great thing about the Nars multiple as as the name suggests you can use it for different areas of your face. (Cheeks, lips and eyes) Now I'm not Courtney Stodden so I don't favor a frosted lip, but I would use this across my lid for a slight shimmer paired with a dash of liner and lashings of mascara! Who doesnt love a product you can use more than one way!

I hope you liked this post, its always nice to look over your collection of products and revisit/rediscover some beauty gems that you favoured in the past. If you decide to do a post similar to this, do let me know so I can have a read!

Bridesmaid Duties..

Wednesday, 28 November 2012

So if you follow me in instagram then you will know that over the weekend I was away doing bridemaid duties at my frien Sarah's hen do. It was all planned by her sisters and kept a complete surprise to Sarah, she didnt know where she was going or what was in store. It was great letting her know bit by bit the sort of things she would get up to. 16 of us headed across to the Isle of Wight to a small town called Shanklin, where we stayed in a huge 7 bedroom house. I havent shared too many photos here with you as I wasnt too sure how the girls would feel having their faces plastered on my blog! However as a little run down this is what we got up to...

On the friday we visited a local pub before heading to the house. To get the party atmosphere going we made Sarah down a smirnoff ice through a snorkle - Standard. Later that evening it was a little bit like a PJ party, chilling out in our PJ's and onsies, downing the alcoholic beverages and playing games. ("Is it a penis?") The following morning - surprisingly all of us feeling daper and no hangover in sight) we split into two groups. One group went Kayaking and Coasteering while the others went on a tour of Osborne House. Again just like the previous evening, alcohol was flowing and we all went out for a nice meal, complete with dare cards. Being a bit 'out of the way' we stayed in a local pub till closing then headed back to the house to carry the party on, where we played twister, penis related games and just had a good laugh. The last person went to bed at 5am... I was in bed at 4am. HARDCORE.

At this point with us all feeling a bit sleep deprived we had a pamper day on Sunday, Annabelle our beautician came in to give mini treatments. I opted for a head massage, while others went for manicures and such. With a selection of wedding themed dvds to hand, we slapped on some face masks and relaxed in the huge living room! (no photo's of facemasks, I dont want to scare you all) Sunday evening was the biggie. A catered meal and Masquerade themed night was planned. We all dressed up in our LBD's mine was a lace boob tube number I like to call my 'kim Kardashian' dress from Chi Chi. Tight around the boobs and gives me some hips! haha! With the masquerade theme to mind I decided to try out Face Lace - review post to come on these. Everyone thought it looked great and I loved how well it worked alongside the lace on my dress. The surprise of the night was the lovely Simon, Our Butler in the Buff. This was a surprise to us all. No one apart from Sarahs sister's knew he was coming. As you can imagine, there were shrieks and giggles when he came in the room to serve us drinks. I dont think Ive ever seen so many people with cameras pointing at a bum before....

It's got me really excited for Sarah and Danny's wedding in January! I cant wait to be a bridesmaid for them - Even though im the odd one out as a brunette! ;-)

p.s I have left out a close up photo of the Butlers bare bum cheeks, However if I get enough requests for it I may add it for your viewing pleasure! ;-)

I do like coats, probably as much as handbags. I am always on the look out for a nice coat or jacket whether its the winter or summer. I cant get enough of them! This year I have got myself new 'everyday' winter jacket, but sometimes there are occassions where you need to make a bit more of an effort and your standard Parka or trustee (faux) leather just wont cut it.You can withstand the cold air for fashion girls! Next have always been one of the first places I look if I am searching for something a little bit smarter. I am also always swayed by the fact you can order items online and not have to pay straight away (they invoice you. You receive the item, try it on & you want to keep it, you pay the invoice. If it isnt for you, you can return it and you dont have to worry about chasing to get a refund)

The above jackets are all something that would be suitable for christmas parties, drinks after work or nice meals out for friends. The fitted styles are flattering on all shapes and instantly smarten up an outfit. This season I have been drawn to prints and textures. I like to keep my outfits quite simple but then have one key item that is a bit more jazzy. Take the floral jersey for example, bang on the winter floral trend and will instantly add a burst of colour to a simple LBD with heels. The Brocade jacket is a little bit more 'night out' worthy. I would actually wear it, just as Next have styled it on their website! Such a chic outfit!

Fit & Flare Coat |   Black fur collar coat

I do admit though, sometimes we cant all brave the cold in a jacket and we do need something a little bit warmer to keep us toasty and stylish in the colder months. I always think a nice tailored coat looks so sophisticated and 'grown up' (Ha look at me saying Grown up, I'm 24!) Anyways, I love the shape of the fit & flare coat, it does exactly as the name suggests and just looks lovely! The leopard fur collar coat is equally as nice, Im not brave enough for a full on leopard coat yet, so the collar detailing is a nice subtle touch to ease me into the trend! I dont think you can ever have too many coats in your wardrobe. I mean, when you are out and about in the colder months, people see your coat more than the clothes underneath. Therefore it makes perfect sense to have a variety of them in your life!

Do you clean your hair brushes?

Saturday, 24 November 2012

Large round brush (BUY) | Denman Tangle Tamer (BUY) (REVIEW) | Denman Backcomb brush (BUY)

We all know it's important to clean our makeup brushes on a regular basis, but do you ever think about cleaning your hair brushes? Think about the number of times you use your hair brush. If you arent regularly cleaning it then you should be!
It's pretty grim but a lot of my hair does fall out when I brush it! It will only take a few brushes without removing the hair that will lead to the bristles getting clogged up, therefore effecting the perfomance of the brush - so to speak! It may sound a bit OCD, But after I have styled my hair in the mornings, I try and make an effort to remove as many as these strands of hair left in the bristles as I can, to avoid some major clogging! I usually just pull these out using my hands, or run a smaller comb across the bristles of the brush, so the hair gets caught and I can remove it easily.
It's not just hair that is in the bristles though, Just think, You use your brushes before and after styling. We all use multiple products on our hair on a daily basis, residue can also build up within the bristles depending what you use! After each time more and more product residue is in your hairbrush... and then you go use it on freshly washed, clean hair the following morning adding old product into your nice clean hair!

It's not just the fact you want to avoid added unnecessary product into your hair after each wash. Just like makeup brushes, if you take care of your hair brush and clean it on a regular basis it will last longer!
Once a week I will toddle off to the bathroom and give my hair brushes a good clean.  It's really quick and simple. If you are one for routine, just do it when you do your makeup brushes!

Simply remove the hair in the brushes with the comb method I mentioned before (Alternatively you could purchase something like this or this to use!).

Run the brushes under the warm water for a bit, soaking the bristles. Taking a shampoo, or even a hand wash,  evenly distribute it on the brush and then work it into the bristles until it creates a nice foam.

Once you have done that thoroughly enough,  rinse the brushes with warm water again and then set on a towel to dry.

That is it! Lovely fresh clean hair brushes for you to use. Trust my your hair will love you for it.
So do you clean your hair brushes? If not, I hope you will now!

 Knightsbridge Bag - C/O Marc B

You all know that I am a bit of an 'old lady' and prefer a cosy night in with a takeaway and a dvd opposed to a night on the town getting trollied and nursing a killer hangover the next day. However there are the few occassions when I do go on nights out, and just like my day to day handbag. I usually take a bag that I can cram more in, than the general night out essentials. This Marc B bag is perfect for this role. My (well I should now say old) going out back was also a Marc B handbag.. I cant remember the name of it, I know it began with an M... Monte Carlo perhaps? (I did instagram a photo of it) Anyway that bag served me well, I think I bought it in 2008 so it was time for an upgrade!

Both bags have the obvious similarities, size wise, colour and the chain strap are all alike. However there is one main difference. There are a lot of compartments and much more room in the Knightsbridge Marc B bag which I LOVE! Finally I have found a bag that will house my flips flops/comfy flats without making the bag look an odd shape! - Yes that is how prepared I can be at times, flat shoes ready for a quick change after a night in heels (it probably helps that I have small size 3 feet so they actually fit in this bag!) Multiple zipped compartments are handy in a going out bag - It means there is less of a chance of items falling out if you remember to zip them back up. I have a habit of not taking a purse when I go out, and just chuck my bank card and id into the bag and then once I've taken some money out I just throw that in there. So the zipped compartments are very handy.I should probably invest in a small purse really!

The Marc B Knightsbridge bag retails at £45, which personally, if it lasts as long as my previous Marc B bag did then I think it is well worth the money. This particular style, like most bags from the brand, do come in other colours. I really like the maroon coloured version. It's just a bit different the classic black most people carry around. I admit though it wouldnt be a 'goes with everything' bag! But I am Leanne, and I do love my handbags so another Knightsbridge in a different colour to add to the collection isnt anything new really!
If quilted bags arent the real thing (maybe you are fortunate to own a classic Chanel, or are saving for one) The brand do stock other style handbags such as totes, grab bags, purses and shoppers. There really is something for everyone whatever your preference!

Do you own any bags from Marc B?

Melvita Rose Micellar Water £15.00 200ml (travel sized pictured) - John Lewis

Remember a while ago I blogged about the Latest in Beauty wedding prep box? Well I've had a chance to try out the products and I figured I would start the reviews rolling! First up we have the Melvita fresh Micellar water. If you remember I was really excited to try this as I hadnt dipped my toes in Micellar water hype and this sample size was a great little product to edge me in!

This sample size did last me quite a decent amount of time, which in my books is a great start. Being a 35ml travel size bottle it gives me high hopes for getting my monies worth if I were to purchase the bigger size avaliable. I only need to take a few drops to a cotton wool pad and sweep it all over my face for a quick cleanse. I do admit that on the nights when I am just too tired to go into a full cleansing routine this product has come up trumps with makeup removal. It is perfect to remove the majority of your makeup off before bed, better than going to sleep with a face covered in products!

I usually use face wipes for the first stages of cleansing before getting into the nitty gritty using my cream or foam cleanser of choice, however these have taken a back seat when using the Melvita Micellar water. I found it a lot more gentle on my skin and refreshing. There was no tightness after using it either which as a nice plus point! Like I said previously the water sucessfully removes a lot of my makeup, prepping my face ready for a proper cleanse! With the exception of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish I cant dive striaight in with a cleanser unless I've removed some of my makeup off first. Anyone else like this?

I'm not usually a fan of rose scented products so I was a bit wary of this before I tried the Melvita Micellar water, however I was pleasantly surprised, I didnt find it over powering at all. This being said, it has made me consider other ways in which I could use the product. Yes it is a great little makeup remover but also could be use as a nice face spritz in the warmer months - or if you are fortunate enough to be jetting off somewhere for some winter sun - you lucky things! I would simply decant it into a spray bottle and use it as and when for a bit of a freshen, being a water based product it would be perfect for this use. It's only if you're rubbing a cotton wool pad on your face with the product on that your makeup would be removed!

Have you tried Melvita Micellar water? Maybe you have a similar product you would reccomend? Let me know in the comments!

Jacket c/o Warehouse
Mary Portas Scarf c/o The Oracle.
Jeans - New Look
Jumper - H & M.
Bag - Zara
Shoes - Primark

Ohh look and outfit post, it has been a while hasnt it! Really need to get back into the swing of posing, this was the only decent picture out of about 50! I would like to get back into doing more of these, but the winter just makes it so hard! I just love coming home from work when it is DARK! Roll on the summer is what I say! Todays outfit has a bit of a grey theme! This jacket is the newest addition to my ever growing collection. Rather than going for the standard black, I opted for grey, I just feel its bit softer and personally feels a lot more wintery! - Does that even make sense? This outfit is pretty much a 'go to' one when I am heading to footbal on a Saturday, I must wrap up warm or else I will freeze! Surprisingly a lightweight jumper and fitted jacket like this do keep me really warm, while I am screaming down at the pitch! - Yes I am a football hooligan ;-)  I admit though, I will probably take my BearPaw boots with me to keep my feet warm while at the stadium!

Later on this evening I am heading to The Oracle in Reading with some other bloggers, It's their Christmas spectacular where they have a fireworks display and turn on their Christmas lights! I'm really looking forward to it, Some of the other girls I havent seen for a while so it will be nice to have a catch up. I will be racing to get there after the match though, hopefully traffic wont be too bad!

I hope you are all having a good weekend!

Basic Shopper - £19.99

So you all know what I am like. Handbags are my thing, I love them, and maybe just one day I will own a designer one! I buy handbags like they are going out of fashion... I'll go shopping, the first words that will come out of Toms or a friend or families mouth will be 'Did you buy a handbag?' I just cant help it, I love bags too much. Some people have their shoes. I have my bags!

I'd been after a nice classic tote/shopper bag for a while. I dont actually own THAT many black bags, in fact I think I only have a couple?! That being said I was on the hunt. I came across the Mari Tote in Accessorize that I did actually want for the longest time, but for some reason I just never got around to purchasing it! Then que me wondering around Zara having a mooch at the handbags, because lets face it they do have a great selection! Quite literally I spied this bag from across the room and made a beeline for it, hoping to god it wasnt one of the more pricey versions of the arm candy Zara stock, and too much relief it wasnt, it was an absolute bargain....

£20! Well not exactly... £19.99 to be truthfull. How amazing! This is the Zara Basic Shopper bag. While instore I did look at the Office city bag, that a few people have purchased recently (and compared it to the Executive tote by Chanel), however it just looked massive against my small/short body, and the different compartments in it were too similar to the style of my Modalu Pippa handbag, so I decided against it! This basic shopper also comes in a light cream colour too but it really didnt look as chic and classic in my opinion. It has the grab handles and a longer strap. Unfortunately the longer strap isnt detachable. But I feel is a welcome addition because there have been many a time when I've filled my bag with so much stuff, it is a relief to throw it over your shoulder/across your body instead of hanging on the crook of your arm. Inside it is lined with a really lovely deep burgandy material. The colour actually matches my KG Humbug purse (Currently in the sale) so it looks like i am super coordinated now!  My laptop does fit into it. I think its a 17" one, so pretty big, however I would be weary of the grab handles if I was carrying it and ensure I used the longer strap if it was that heavy, you know just in case.  I think it is a really smart looking bag, quite sophisticated and in my opinion looks more expensive than it actually was. I know Zara handbags are always a big hit with bloggers. Especially the ones from their basic range. Could this be the new Blogger 'IT' bag? Who knows?

Cable Knit Jumper - c/o AX Paris
Slipper Boots - Accessorize
Duvet Set - Homebase (in the sale!)
You may have noticed that I have had a little bit of a mini break from blogging. Well I say that, I just didnt blog for about 2 weeks, but thats ages in the blogging world when you are used to posting regularly! After our Barcelona trip I had a few wedding related things to do so I really just havent had time to sit at my laptop and blog. I've also been ill the past week or so, so blogging hasnt been top priority! My google reader has 1000+ posts to read and there are a fair few videos in my youtube subscription box to watch, a mammoth catch up session is needed! Blogging is also a bit of a struggle at the moment because of the lighting. I know all bloggers say the same every year, but its true! Taking photographs without natural light is a nightmare, I dont have the funds do go buy some fancy pants lighting either, so weekends will be my photo taking days - if I dont have any other plans of course!

With the wedding madness that is surrounding me at the moment (my own and one of my friends who I am bridesmaid for) its nice to just take some time to chill. Recently Tom signed up to Netflix so I have been taking the opportunity in the evenings to watch a couple of movies & TV shows. There's nothing better than snuggling up in a cosy jumper, leggings and slipper boots and watching a film. This jumper has been my go to ' lay about the house' jumper. It's a pale pink oversized cable knit one from AX Paris. Every A/W I go crazy for knitwear especially when its oversized - so snuggly! It's been the perfect jumper to throw on in the evenings when I felt a bit blah, keeping me nice and warm while I chill on my bed surrounded by cushions with a hot choc in hand!

Hope everyone is well. I feel a bit out of the loop being away from my little blog for 2 weeks!

What would I repurchase? #1

Wednesday, 24 October 2012

We all have those products we buy time and time again without fail. I do love seeing posts or videos about what others would repurchase. It just shows that that person has really used and loved that particular product that they cant not have it as part of their routine, so I figured I would do a little post of my own. These products here are items I will repurchase or have repurchased before.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst quenching serum (Review Here) (£29.00)
I have talked about my love for this product before. I love it! It is a bit on the pricey side, but I fear that the dry patches I had before will reappear if I dont buy a new one when my current bottle runs out! So I am willing to part with the cash! My skin drinks this stuff up and it thanks me for it! It's a given that this will stay in my skincare routine from this day forward!

Mac MSF Soft & Gentle (£21.50)
I've noticed an influx of posts and mentions in videos about this MSF, and with good reason too. It is a really beautiful highlighter. It gives you the perfect golden glow! A sweep of this across my cheekbones finishes off my look, It makes my skin look lovely and radiant even on the days where I am feeling a bit 'meh' I personally think the price tag for it is reasonable as it does last you ages!
I try out different mascaras but I always end up coming back to this one. I always purchase this in Carbon black. Its a great mascara that really thickens and lengthens my lashes. I often get asked if I am wearing false eyelashes when I use it! It's an affordable repurchase at just under £9, Ive lost count how many tubes of this I have gone through.
Mac Painterly Paint pot. (£14.50)
My go to eyeshadow base. This particular paint pot doesnt really have much of a colour to it,  so it isnt one that you can really use on its own like other shades, however as a eyeshadow base it is excellent. It really keeps my eyeshadow in place all day and ensures that the shadows I use look a lot more pigmented than if they were applied without a base on the eyelid. Price wise, because these last forever, I've had mine over a year now and its still going strong! You do have to make sure you screw the lid back on tightly because these have a habit of drying out if not done up properly!
I got this in my starter Kit Tom bought me for my birthday. I admit I have been loyal to my liquid foundation in recent weeks, however this Warmth bronzer has been a staple in my routine. A little goes a long way so you have to be careful with it. However it gives the lovliest bronze to your face, and its great for contouring. I will definately be repurchasing when I run out!
If you have read my review you will know that this does a great job of setting my makeup and keeping my eyebrows in check! I still have a lot left so it will be a while untill I need to repurchase, however I couldnt go without this setting spray now. Its something that will forever be in my routine!
If you do a post or video similar to this do let me know. I'd love to see what products you would repurchase!

Ray Ban 5246 - Pretavoir

I'm sure most of you are aware that I am a glasses wearer - I mean you see me wearing them from time to time on here/instagram dont you, so you should be aware! I do hate having my eyes tested and picking out glasses though. Noone wants to go through the process of having air blown into their eyes, lights pointed directly into them and be forced 'not to blink' when having a photograph taken? But its something I have to do.. I then get told I'm going even more blind (ok a bit extreme..but my eyes are getting worse) and then have to spend half an hour (or sometimes longer) trying on multiple frames in store, when really I'd rather be shopping for clothes or makeup, lets be honest we'd all prefer the process to be a bit quicker and easier.

I't had never even crossed my mind to purchase my glasses online, less hassle than facing the town center on a busy saturday morning and also allowing me to justify in a cheeky online shop in some of my fave shops online. So when Pretavoir contacted me asking if I would like to review some frames from their website, I thought, why not?

I admit, at first I was tempted to treat myself to something designer, there's a variety of brands avaliable ; Tom Ford sunglasses & Chanel sunglasses to name a few. (I was really tempted with the Chanel to be honest, those bows on the arms are so cute) But I resisted the urge and gave myself a talking to. 'Be sensible, your prescription has changed, you need new frames for day to day wear as your current ones are falling off your face/scratched to pieces!' After browsing the site and looking for some frames that were a similar shape and size to the current ones I owned, I decided on some Ray Ban glasses (model 5246).

A few days later they arrived. Speedy delivery! They came wrapped in black tissue paper inside the box which I thought was a nice little touch, it felt like I was opening a present! Inside of course was a classic black Ray Ban lens case, inside housed my beautiful new frames and a cleaning cloth.
A nice added addition was a seperate cleaning kit. (These are provided free of chargewhen you purchase certain frames) Such a handy little kit. I dont know why it is, but I seem to create smudges on my lenses all the time so this is a nice welcome addition that is now housed in my handbag ready for any emergency clean ups! The frames fit me perfectly. I think it did help that I purposely looked for styles that were similar dimensions and shape to the frames I had previously owned. I do think that if you wanted to go for a brand new shape or style, it would be better to go in store. Pretavoir do have a store in Glasgow if you happen to live nearby!

I've never considered prescription sunglasses before, however seeing the price of the frames on this website it may be something I would consider when Spring or summer rolls around. I know they would be a good thing to have if I ever decide to learn to drive! The amount of times I am in the passenger side of Toms car and I cant see because of the sun, so god knows how he could see! Being so impressed with these frames I would be tempted to go for some classic Ray bans.

Review : The Denman Tangle Tamer brush

Wednesday, 17 October 2012

Having long hair means that there are times when it gets really knotty, and god it is annoying! Brushing your hair when wet with any old brush is really damaging, and as I have started my mission to give my hair that little bit of TLC and treat it better, I felt it was time to invest in a decent detangling brush.
I used other de tangling brands in the past  (Tangle Teezer I am looking at you) and even though it did work for me in regards to detangling, the shape just wasnt for me. When your hands are covered in product or wet in the shower, using a brush that  looks like a clam in your hand without a handle, usually means it ends up going flying across the room. The more times it happened, the more annoyed I got with it. So when I spotted the Denman Tangle Tamer brush in boots for a around the £6 mark I thought I would give it a go.

The Denman Tangle tamer brush is actually advertised as a hairbrush for children, but I say screw the rules, I'm 24 and I am going to use it because it is amazing! Unlike the Tangle Teezer the Tangle tamer has a handle. BIG PLUS. No more throwing my brush across my bedroom and nearly whacking Tom in the face. It's just so much more comfortable to use, I could never go back to using a brush without a handle now. The  nylon bristles of the Tangle tamer are much longer and flexible than the Tangle teezer which sports plastic bristles/teeth  which over time do curl at the end, making it less effective!. I have found that this brush glides through my hair with minimum effort, sometimes with the other brush I would have to atttack a particularly knotty area a few times before I could brush through with ease. Whether my hair is wet or dry, the Denman tangle tamer does what it is meant to do and detangles my hair without me flinching or getting annoyed at the impossible knots I have to untangle.

I can totally understand why this is aimed at children though. When I was younger I had crazy long hair, Id sit on my parents bed for ages waiting for my mum to get through my mane with a rubbish little brush, while I just cried and told her to leave it half done! (I think anyone who had long hair as a child can relate!) At about the £6 mark its a lot more affordable than the tangle teezer and in my opinion a lot better. Some of you may feel that the Tangle Teezer is the bees knees, but for me the Denman Tangle Tamer gets the top spot.

(Also on a side note, I know Im trying to get my hair in good condition but this brush is also very good at a little gentle backcombing to create volume!)

Project Samples : Update #3

Monday, 15 October 2012

Woah, I bet you all thought I had forgotten about this little series I had running on my blog. I didnt forget, I just didnt use the samples up as regularly as I did when I first started! I'll be honest, it has moved on from sachets (even though I do have a few sachets still to get through) and more onto using up minitures that I have floating about, hence why it has taken a little longer than before! I still class minitures as samples. If I want to try something new, I try to get a miniture or travel size first to have a little play with before parting with the cash for full sized - unless there arent any avaliable so I just go for it with full size and take my chances!

So I have a few products to share with you that I have finished, So I will get on with my mini reviews!
I got this shower gel in a Glossybox a while ago I think. It smells so lovely and lathered really well using one of those shower/bath scrunchie things (I know you all know what I mean) It is a bit of a luxury purchase for a shower gel/bath soak at £20.00 but would be something nice to have if you want to treat yourself and have a bit of a pamper no and again.
Again another sample that I received in a Glossybox some time ago! If I am honest I didnt really see much of a difference in regards to firming, however it was a really nice body lotion to use after the shower. It wasnt sticky and sunk in relatively quickly compaired to other brands I have tried. It's quite expensive and I didnt see that much of an effect so I dont think this would be something I would pick up for myself full sized.
A lot of people sing praises for this facial exfoliator, so I thought I would pick up a miniture size of it to try out,  I can see why it gets so much praise. The scent is nice, not too overpowering. The granuals in the scrub itsself arent too harsh on your skin, gently exfoliating the dead skin away.  It did leave my skin feeling really soft and looking a lot more radiant. I could see myself picking up a full sized tube of this on my next trip to boots!
Batiste Dry Tropical shampoo.
I know I wouldnt call this a sample really, but its a miniture can of dry shampoo and some of you may not have tried it! (although I think everyone has tried Batiste!) I love the scent of this particular version. It reminds me of holidays! Works well as a dry shampoo, just hate the white residue you get especially when you have dark hair! - yes I know you can get some specifically for dark hair!
Yes, this miniture will feature in this post! I got this as a gift when I purchased some items from Estee Lauder a while ago. Being a big fan of the foundation I had high hopes for the concealer. I have to say I was impressed. The coverage and staying power of it was amazing. It lived up to the hype its sister (the foundation) gets in the blogging world/life in general! Only downside is that I am a fan of the collection concealer which is a fraction of the price and works just as well, so I have to say I wont be buying a full sized concealer!
The opposite end to the concealer, made sense to give this a go too! At first I wasnt too impressed with this mascara, its a volumising and lifting one.. so it claims.. When it is first opened and really wet I found it gave me spider lashes which I really dont like, and didnt really do what it said on the tin. However once the air got to it a bit and it dried out slightly... I loved it! Created great volumised long lashes. Why is it that some mascaras are better when they dry out a bit (should I know this as a beauty blogger? Answers on a postcard!) I would be tempted to purchase this full sized. Just in my head doesnt make sense that I would have to put up with crap lashes for a bit before I get the desired effect!
So there you go, I know a few other bloggers decided to take on this challenge so I would love to see your posts if you have done any. Link them in the comments. ;-)

Fish Revitalising dry shampoo - £3.49
I recieved this dry shampoo in my little package from Keep me inspired, for winning blog of the month in August. Now Fish is a brand I always associated with male haircare, so it was a nice surprise to find out that they also do a range for females too!
I always use dry shampoo between washes, I don't do it so my hair looks 'washed', it's just a nice little pick me up when my hair looks a bit 'blah'. I'll admit that I dont often stray from my usual batiste, however I thought I would give this fish revitalising dry shampoo a try & I have to say I am really impressed! It does leave that slight white residue on your hair once you have sprayed, however I did find that it wasnt as hard to get rid of when rubbed in, compared to other dry shampoos that I have used.
It isnt too strongly scented, it actually reminded me of the tropical batiste (my favourite scent) but not as strong, so this was a big plus for me! Like with most dry shampoos they give you that little bit of volume which is always nice. I did find that that instantly volumised my hair and made it look lovely! This has been my 'go-to' dry shampoo for the past week or so! It's really affordable so it will definitley be a re-purchase I think!
Have you tried this dry shampoo, or anything else from the Fish range?
