Review : The Oracle Reading Fashion week event.

I, along with a few other bloggers headed over to The Oracle shopping centre in reading last weekend to enjoy a day of catwalk shows and get the chance to see what goes on behind the scenes. The Spring / Summer fashion showcase ran over a course of seven days, with a selection of activities you could get involved in. Emmeline offered great style and image advice, giving us tips on how to really bring an outfit to life using accessories or colour. Following that Both Sarah and I had a colour analysis session from Emmeline, to determine what colours suited us. I found these tips really helpful & was great advice to remember for when I next go on a shopping trip. I was told I needed to introduce more colour into my wardrobe.. which is fine by me. I am pretty safe when it comes to clothing and tend to stick to neutrals! You also had the chance of a makeup master class with a girl from Benefit, unfortunately while Sarah and I were there, she seemed to have vanished (probably on lunch, I dont blame her talking about makeup all day is hungry work) So I cant really report on how that went, but I'm sure for those that got to experience it, it was fab.

Denesha showed us the fashion displays they had placed either end of the Oracle to tie the fashion week theme throughout the complex, with the main catwalk show being in the centre. This was a great bit of visual merchandising by the team, as it meant no matter which side you were entering The Oracle to shop, you would see these display's and be introduced to the event. Being a complete wally, I forgot to take photos, but pinched these from The Oracles Facebook page, so you can see what they were like. I loved all the dresses!

Getting a sneak peak of what goes on backstage was interesting. For the Make Up and Hair on the female models, we saw quite simplistic bases, with the most minium of makeup, however all the attention was made with their eyes. Flashes of bight liquid liner and dramatic lashes! Hair wise, it was back to the 90's with crimped barnets! I admit, the makeup/hair room did smell a bit of singed hair, those poor girls, I hope they used a deep conditioning treatment afterwards! As for the guys.. well Im sure they had a bit of makeup help here and there, and their barnets were blowdried to perfection.
It was fab to have a sneak peak of the clothes that would be featuring in the catwalk show. There were a few pieces I noticed that I have had my eye on for a while, so it was great to see how someone else would style them. There were also some items that caught my attention, and couldnt wait to see what they looked like on the catwalk. Before we knew it, it was time to take our positions and watch the models strut their stuff down the catwalk.

Straight in with what I feel is one of the most popular trends at the moment, we saw Pastels courtesy of Zara. The girls looked gorgeously feminine and the guys looking pretty daper in their smart suits.

Up next we had the section of the show 'turn up the heat' featuring items from Mango & Brother 2 Brother, perfect for summer (If it ever arrives!)  Mango has been a store that has recently made its way onto my radar. Lots of gorgeous clothes at pretty affordable prices!

Phase Eight and Moss brought us a great collection of bold and bright prints, perfect for the summer! I loved the selection of florals and stripes!

Clothing from Bank, we had the 'Urban Cool' section. A great mix of brights, patterns and... coolness! Loved the bright bodycon dresses. Just a shame I dont have the figure to pull them off!

Keeping with the Urban Cool theme, Republic hit hard with the Americana theme for the show, whereas the guys strut their stuff wearing coloured jeans and motif t-shirts.

Being a fan of the neutrals, I loved the selection of clothes from Reiss, I picked out some great pieces from the show that I would love to have in my wardrobe!

French Connection also brought us some great neutral pieces perfect for summer dressing. This was one of my favourite selection of clothes. Loved pretty much everything!

It was florals galore from Oasis for the 'Garden Party' look. The guys looked great in their outfits from Brother to Brother. Styles that could also fit into the 'festival fix' theme.

With festival season just around the corner, it would have been wrong not to dedicate a section to it. Lots of sporty but cute styles here courtesy of Gap and Office.

New Look and Burton also provided some great outfits for festival fashion. Lots of floral pieces for the girls, where as for the guys it was Aztec prints for the guys.

The Topshop and Topman section of 'mish mash clash' was also a favourite of mine. I loved the bright colours and contrasting prints!

So there you have it, apologies for the photo heavy post. There were some other brands featured in the show, but as my memory card was filled partway through the show I missed capturing some of the other looks! There are a fair few outfits that I havent featured here that I think you would all love, so keep an eye out for a few 'get the look' posts in the future! :-)  I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Danesha for inviting me. I had a great time capturing the show and taking a look around! It was really fun!

Much Love
