By the end of this blog post you will be thinking to yourself.. 'I need to do this/That is me' After such an amazing response to my "Buy less and wear more" post (which by the way If I am honest I am struggling with - Not the buying part, I havent bought anymore lipsticks.. just the wearing part! Must nip that in the bud asap!) Anways... When I was having a sort out of my makeup and general beauty products, I realised I had accumilated so many samples! Whether they be mini versions of products to try out or the usual sachet style sample.. I have a fair few!
So it got me thinking.. why am I hoarding these and not doing what they are actually produced for... trying out something new!? So in my quest (?) to reduce my beauty collection down I figured (just like my lipstick obsession) that if I made it public that I hoard these things, then it would get me to start using them. (Its worked in regards to the lipsticks... I havent bought any since writting the post!) As I cant buy these samples it will indeed make me use them. I can keep track via my blog and let you guys know my thoughts on the samples when I've finished them. Sort of like an empties post, but I wouldnt class it as 'empties' as they are only tiny! I realise there will be some things where I can literally just tell you that they smell nice/sinks in fast or other comments along those lines but who knows.. that may be helpful to someone!
Do you collect beauty samples but never use them? Do you want to join me on this little project of mine? If you do let me know via twitter or in the comments!

I have several beauty boxes stacked labelled 'samples' every evening I have a rummage and see what I can 'test'. I also keep the bottles such as the bubble bath and shower gel bottles as they make fab travelling bottles!

haha, I have three feel unique boxes that I have never used anything from, or only used 1 thing from! I think I am going to have one 'luxury' bath a week from now on until I have used everything up! that or given them to people as extra little presents!
ReplyDeleteGood plan stan!
I had this! Do you know how rewarding it is to use all those blighters up! Tell yourself you MUST NOT buy anything till yu use em up! xxx
ReplyDeleteI always collect beauty samples, they're usually the ones out of magazines which I shove in my drawer and never use, I actually had a clear out though and gave them all to my mum.

I do a Sunday Samples post quite regularly where I give a sort of mini review/quick overview of the samples I've been using. It's a great way of getting through my stash :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm guilty of this and have slowly started to nip it in the bud. I include mine in my empties posts and have had loads creeping in lately x
ReplyDeleteI've been using all mine, especially perfumes. So handy to put in your bag or take for weekends away. Might save my shampoo, some moisturisers and shower gel for Reading festival x
ReplyDeleteOMG! So many samples, this is such a good idea though!

I like doing a samples post otherwise they just sit there and build up like this. It might be easier to divide them up by category as you won't be able to do full reviews like you said.
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to do this too, I have a huge box full of sample sizes and sample sachets! xo
ReplyDeleteI'll join you on this! I have a huge box of them that's starting to overflow and it's just becoming ridiculous, how many samples does one girl need?! x
ReplyDeleteThats good that you do use them every so often though! Never thought about keeping the bottles for travel though! Great idea! x
ReplyDeleteFeel unique was the best beauty box tho! how do you have stuff left lol. You should treat yourself to a pamper once a week and use bits up! Ive given away 'beauty boxes' as presents for birthdays/christmas before. x
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great idea. I started doing something similar a couple months back with my "skincare junkie stash" posts. I think sometimes it's hard to use up skincare related samples because all the changing and swapping around can sometimes affect the skin. Best of luck with this! :)
ReplyDeleteI know I will first work on these sachet and mini tubes and then i can move onto the full sized stuff! eeek - that will be tough! x
ReplyDeleteA few of these are from magazines! I need to use them! ;-) x
ReplyDeleteOOh Ill have to check that out! x
ReplyDeleteI dont use up enough stuff for empties posts yet! So this is me starting! :-) x
ReplyDeleteI know they are good to use when going away! Good idea taking them to festivals! x
ReplyDeleteHa I know! I need to use them! x
ReplyDeleteThats a good idea actually to divide them up! I may do that! :-) x
ReplyDeleteHa do it! We can do this together! x
ReplyDeleteYay! Lets do this! Looking forward to seeing what you use up! x
ReplyDeleteIve been working my way through mine recently! I blame glossybox and magazines haha. However a few of them have came in very hadny as minis when Ive been packing for my holiday! Good Luck! Theres something very satisfying about using products up, even samples x
ReplyDeleteI have a terrible habit of putting sachet samples away in a drawer and never using them! You've inspired me to dig them out and give them a try! xo
ReplyDeleteI always save my samples sizes for holidays or trips away, save space in my luggage and I have no other option but to use them without my regular supplies around!
ReplyDeleteI love samples! and you have so many! this is such a good idea, but most of the time i like saving my samples for when im going away and stuff, they're so convenient! just found your blog and i've been reading it for the last hour or so, it's amazing!!! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea, I have SO many samples just lying around all over my bedroom and I'm always telling myself I should get round to actually using them! xx
ReplyDeleteI am joining you - have SO many to get through!! xxx

I think samples are so pleasing because they're so little, and you can't use them for long enough to see if they really affect your skin in a positive way! I might give it a bash though. :)

I do collect perfume samples because they're perfect for popping in your handbag if you're staying out for the night or are on the go allllll day and can't carry a large bottle. It's a great way to always be smelling fresh and different too xx
