I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Stila in the moment palette thanks to a twitter competition recently. Everyone went a bit crazy for the In the Light palette but I never saw much said about this one so I was eager to have a little play.

The stila in the moment palette has a really nice selection of shades, all very pigmented. There are some neutrals and then the main focus are the purple shades along the top row. These are the shades I used to create this particular look. When it comes to a smokey eye it's always a bit of a challenge for me. I lot of the time I end up looking like I've been punched! However these stila eyeshadows are really easy to work with.

To achieve the above look I used all four purple shades. I'll try to explain it as best I can but to be honest it was a bit of a fluke. It would probably have been easier to explain in a video but as I haven't ventured into youtube yet a blog post will have to do!

The first step was to prime my eyes. I used the Too faced eyeshadow insurance, then swept the lightest purple shade (impulse) all over the lid and slightly above the crease.

Then I took the 2nd darkest shade (improvise) and packed that quite heavily on the lid. It doesn't matter if it goes a bit over, as the next step was to take a blending brush and blend it out along the crease. To make it a bit smokier I added the darkest shade (catalyst) in the crease and blended it out. Just keep blending and blending until you are happy with the overall look. Blending is key! To add a little bit of extra colour I put a little bit of the bright purple (glance) on the center of the lid.

To finish I put a bit of improvise along the lash line and smudged it out a little. Added a slick of eyeliner along the water/lashline and masacara and that's it!

Not the most complicated of 'tutorials' but that is how I did it and it all seemed to work so I thought I would share it with you (I also had Shelley & Charli telling me I had to post the photos in a blog post!) I might give the more neutral shades a go next!

You can purchase the Stila in the moment palette here.

Have you tried this palette?

Much love,

  13. It takes some practice! Less is more is the rule you should follow. You can add more shadow if you need to but you cant take it away! x
