The Book: The day we disappeared.
The Author: Lucy Robinson
Where to buy: Waterstones | Amazon | Tesco
Rating 4/5

Annie has a secret. But if she's not going to tell, we won't either. It's a heart-breaking secret she wishes she didn't have - yet Annie isn't broken, not quite yet. Especially now there's someone who seems determined to fix her.Kate has run away. But she's not going to tell us why - that would defeat the point of running, wouldn't it? It's proving difficult to reinvent herself, however, with one person always on her mind. Scratch beneath the surface and nobody is really who they seem. Even Annie and Kate aren't entirely sure who they are any more.

I hadn't heard much about this book or the Author before it was suggested for book club. Lucy Robinson has written three other successful novels before this particular one, so the girl knows what she is doing! I decided to go for the kindle edition this time around as it was more convenient for me. When purchasing I noticed the amount a reviews the book had had on amazon.. at a  quick glance they were positive so I held high hopes for this one.

Similar to the previous book we read for book club, you get two stories in one. We follow Kate to the stables, where she has run away to to get away from whatever has troubled her in the past. Despite not having a clue about horses she settles in well and over time builds up relationships with her co workers & boss, it looks like things are going to go well for her in this new experience.  Then we have her friend Annie, a massage therapist trying to make ends meet while working in London. She has some bad memories from her childhood that we learn about later on in the book but the main focus of her story is a man called Stephen and the relationship between the two as the story progresses.

I will admit I got about halfway through this book and just thought it was like any other chick Lit book I'd pick up to read on holiday. You've got the boy meets girl scenarios. Will they wont they get together? Oh everythings so perfect. Happy happy happy! I did start to get eager to know why kate had run off from her home in Dublin to the farm as nothing had been revealed, this is what made me stick with the book really. I wanted to know what happened, i was hooked! With Annies story it was a little different. Things were getting a bit too perfect with this guy Stephen and I was just waiting for something to happen... and happen it did. I dont want to reveal any spoilers but things get a bit turned on their head and the book started to get a lot more exciting.

If you are looking for a good chick lit book with a bit of a twist then this is your book. It ticks all the boxes and you wont be dissapointed with the big reveal. When you're sat on your sofa reading and then shout out 'oh my god' you know its a goodun'. Definitely one to put on your holiday reads list.

Have you read this book before. What did you think?
